Matt Johnson is currently an Assistant Principal at Cedartown High School, an Apple Distinguished School in Polk School District. He has served the community of Polk County for the past eight years -- five years as an English teacher at Rockmart High School, two years as Assistant Principal at Cedartown Middle School, and is now at Cedartown High School as Assistant Principal. Matt has also worked closely with Georgia's Department of Education as a curriculum writer under Common Core and has presented instructional- and curriculum-based professional learning around Northwest Georgia for GaDOE and Northwest Georgia RESA agencies.
Matt is a graduate of Cedartown High School with the Class of 2005 and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Georgia in 2009. Matt earned a Masters of Science in Adolescent Literacy from Walden University in 2012 and a Specialists degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University in 2014. Matt is currently completing a Doctoral program in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education and will graduate with his Ed.D. in 2017.
